York County
 View Map of York County York County was erected from Lancaster County by Act of August 19, 1749. Hellam Township was the Lancaster County township from which most York County townships were formed. The Susquehanna River has never been a part of York County. It lies in Lancaster County. The town of York was laid out for John, Thomas, and Richard Penn by Thomas Cookson in 1741. |

Adams County
 View Map of Adams County Adams County was erected from York County on January 22, 1800. The original townships of Adams County were townships of York County until the division of the two counties. Monaghan, Warrington, Heidelberg, and Manheim were townships of York County which contributed land to Adams County. |
